from past customers:
Well,
Gunner is 4 months old and pointed his first rooster
today. He was visibly working the fence line when he
locked up beautifully on a nice Rooster! Then, on the
way home, we came across 6 more roosters in the ditch.
I quickly grabbed Gunner out of the back and let him
loose. He took off like just a normal walk in the field
when all of a sudden his head spun to the left and he
locked up again on one of the roosters. However, the
rooster never flushed, it just took off running and
Gunner pursued it into a thorn thicket and I believe
out through the pines were it flushed on the edge of
a bean field. It was too thick to see what happened
after the point. I LOVE MY GUNNER!!
He is a hyper guy if I don't get him out but right now
it is too cold, but that is very encouraging to me.
I know I don't have a lazy dog and when we do get out
he is impressing the heck out of me. He is out to about
20 yards and works a beautifully Z pattern. Also, I
can tell he loves and respects me.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
Curt B.
Patty,
I can honestly say that I am done training the pup to
do new things this year. She has learned everything
I had planned for her. All before her 6 month birthday.
I can't begin to express my gratitude for the wonderful
animal that you have provided. She is amazing in the
field and amazing in the home. She is locking up a good
7 - 20 feet from a bird, depending on the direction
of the wind and what side of the wind she is on. From
here on out for the remainder of the season, we are
just going to reinforce what it is she already knows
and have fun in the field. My only regret this year
is that I did not get her in water as much as I would
have liked. She loves the water but all the ponds around
the house were algae filled and I did not want to risk
it.
She is obedient in the field, she hunts with a passion
is steady till a bird is flushed and retrieves to hand
beautifully. She came from a wonderful kennel and a
breeder with a passion for the breed. You can bet the
next GSP I buy will also come from your kennel.
She will pass a JR hunt test with no problem. I will
be surprised if she doesn't go 4 for 4 in the JR hunt
test. I know she would do beautifully in a NAVHDA NA
test also, but she is going to be weak in the water
section of the testing due only because of me not being
able to get her in water.

Patty,
You are an awesome breeder and it is virtually impossible
not to recommend you.
My two shorthair's are like opposite sides of a coin.
Really easy to tell the better breeder. Belle is soooo
wired....she's like an over wound ten-day-clock. Starr,
on the other hand, is so mellow and loving. You look
in her eyes and you know someone is home, a real level
of intelligence lives there, just bursting to please....Belle's
eyes are full of mischief, a cool thing too but she
never mellows and has a level of bull-headedness that......
Also, you should get money for endorsing Canade dog
food.
I have had, since I've been married, six dogs now. I
have NEVER seen such beautiful, shiny, lustrous coats
of hair. Wish my own hair would look half as nice. It's
also so much more convenient not having to purchase
puppy and adult food. Thrive on it?.....no kidding!
Starr is taking to the woods like a veteran. It's been
so hot and dry we hadn't been to the cabin for 5 weeks.
This last weekend, we let Starr free (with a collar)
and she was awesome. Not intimidated by the woods and
adventurous on her own. Looks like she won't be a follower
taking the easy path!!! She is so happy and happy to
please.
Love ya, really! Keep up the good work.

Hi
Patty-
So...a month has gone by...what a joy Lucy is to our
family ...especially to Bailey! Bailey can't get enough
of her!!!!
They are buddies and are inseparable!! She already knows
the commands 'come' & 'sit', along with her name
"Lucy". I must say ...these are the best dogs!!
They simply love the neighborhood kids...we have received
so many compliments on how beautiful they are as well
as their coats being so shiny. Canidae is what we give
them too...and will never change! Bailey stays in our
2 acre yard...she knows the lot lines...and Lucy tends
to follow her so it shouldn't be that much of an issue
to train Lucy. We have been walking the lot line with
Lucy on a leach as Bailey frolics along showing her
where she can and can not go...it is quite amusing!
We purchased a little kiddie pool for our back patio
for the girls to jump around in on the hot days...they
love getting the tennis balls out of the water then
jumping out and running with them. They will do that
for hours! This was the best choice Bill and I could
have made, getting Bailey a playmate as well as another
addition to our family...we are so very pleased with
both of them!! Keep up the GREAT work!!!! Thanks again
for all you have done and continue to do!!

Patty,
Just thought I would let you know Deuce made a bird
dog out of himself on Sunday out in South Dakota. He
made a point on a rooster and didn't’t want to
leave. Barron was great as always, not a lot of birds
due to the drought and a fire on the property we hunted,
but was a memorable trip as Deuce made his first point
and I shot my first double of roosters over Barron.
I am very pleased with Deuce's progress. I know he is
young and a puppy, but to point birds when all I let
him do is chase pigeons before the trip and to take
a rooster off him at 3 months is truly a blessing and
a tribute to good breeding and is the reason why, after
having such a good dog with Barry, I could not pass
up another pup out of those same blood lines, it being
Carver's last breeding. Will put as many birds as I
can past both of their noses and enjoy every moment
thanks.

Hey
Patty,
Just wanted to let you know that your web site is very
easy to use and full of pictures and information that
really helps to learn about the breed, and understand
your deep love for your dogs and profession. Your site
is a well organized and professional breath of fresh
air compared to the other sites we've recently visited.
You should be very proud of how well you maintain it.

First off I would like to inform you that no less than
15 people asked me where I got my dog. They loved Sadie's
markings and how she look(muscle, bone structure). We
got out to our field and went about 50, she ran past
me down this 4 wheeler track, put on the breaks and
locked up on this clump of grass about 5 yards in front
of me. I thought for sure she was on a mouse, as she
does this when we are on our walks. I told her to "hold",
I kicked the grass and nothing happened, she insisted
that there was something there. I gave one more kick
and out came a pheasant, I turned and shot it. I told
her to fetch it up, she went over by it but couldn't
get her mouth around it, so she licked it and picked
it up by it's neck and dragged it a couple of feet.
I went over by her and proceeded to praise her up and
down, petting her and rubbing her ears. I took the pheasant
by the legs and moved it around on the ground and got
her even more excited and told her "let's go, hunt
'em up". The whole day she had 5 points. The points
were unbelievable, good solid points. Then,
I took Sadie to a part of the field where my buddies
Lab went through. As we walked through, my buddy told
me that there was nothing there because his Lab already
went through it. I said ok. I took Sadie through and
said find me one more. Couple of seconds later she got
birdy and then pointed in a clump of grass. I said "hold",
then flushed out a pheasant. I asked my buddy if there
was anywhere else that his dog already went through.
Patty,
whatever genes you have in your dogs is worth more than
anybody could ever pay. To think that at 5 months old
and already knows how to point without a lot of coaching
is a testament to your breeding. I went hunting not
having high expectations and came out with a championship
style dog. She never once ranged on me, stayed within
25-30 yards, listened to every word that I said. The
other dog that we hunted with ranged on us twice and
ended up flushing 2 pheasants, that we never got. I
am still in awe today as I write this. I can't tell
enough people about how she did. I would put Sadie up
against any dog when it comes to hunting. Except yours
of course ;-)
To sum up this weekend: Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!

Patty,
First, I'd like to say I appreciate the time you took
to tell me about your kennel. I simply asked you to
tell me about your operation, and you took the time
to hit all the points, That tells me that you care a
lot about GSP's and know the breed well.
As for more details about what I'm looking for in a
GSP, the style of your breed fits my needs rather well.
The closer ranging NAVHDA lines is a definite, as the
cover is relatively dense where I hunt. The medium size
is a good fit for my taste, as well. Now, first and
foremost I' m looking for a companion at home, hunting
comes second. So, I like the family approach you take.

Patty,
This season has been great with hunting. I have joined
a
hunt club, and between the 2 girls (Daisy and Schatz)
they will have over 100 birds shot over them. Plus we
went to North Dakota this year, and had much better
success than in Iowa.
Schatz
is becoming unbelievable in the field- she has suction
cup
paws. When she goes on point she stays there, and I
think her nose is even better than Daisy's. I have had
several instances where she locked up 12-15 feet from
where the bird was.
They
are both still such cuddlers- although Schatz likes
to push her paws into you after she is under the covers-
so some nights you can't have her upstairs. Daisy is
always so polite- she sleeps upstairs every night. She
stays curled into a little ball. I have included a picture
below of Schatz that I thought you would like. She is
absolute trouble isn't she? We still love em tho don't
we?

Hi.
Things are going well. We're starting to get into a
routine now. He wakes me up early, we play for a while,
I get ready, we play some more. Then it's off to work,
home for lunch, and back to work. After work, we play
for a couple hours. Then he falls asleep for an hour
or so (if I'm lucky), so I can get some things done.
We play for a little more, then it's kennel time. He'll
go in by himself with the help of a peanut buttered
Kong. House breaking is going well. The occasional pee
accident every other day or so, but nothing major. Yesterday
he barked to go out and the first thing he did was go.
Another week and he'll have that licked.
Sunday we went to the dog park in. It's so nice there.
They have
a puppy area and a HUGE wooded and field area for larger
dogs. I look forward to going as much as he does. I
can let him run around, play with other pups and kids,
and meet the big ones, too. I think it's going to be
a two-days-a-week sort of thing. He is, of course, the
most popular dog there. I'm not just saying that
either. Everyone comes over and tells me how cute he
is. Sunday we spent most of our time with the big dogs
and he did very well. I went on Wednesday, also, but
I think he got more attention than he wanted from other
dogs, so he went off for a while to explore on his own.
I've been seeing some GSP's there and some of them are
SO HUGE. I'm glad Ridge is going to stay a reasonable
size. All of the owners and others who have had them
can't say enough good things about what wonderful dogs
they are. Sometimes I wonder about Ridge, but I just
remind myself that he's a puppy! I think that covers
most of what's new. I'll keep you posted.
Brian

Hi
Patty,
Val
and I were thinking of you recently as we just celebrated
Shelby's one year birthday on St. Patrick's day. Shelby
has truely been a blessing to our lives. We wanted to
thank you again for breeding such beautiful dogs that
are a pleasure to have in the house. We're not ready
for a second dog just yet, but when we are, we certainly
plan to get a GSP from Country-Side.
Shelby is now 24 inches at the withers and weighs 50
lbs. She has plenty of energy and can go all day in
the field, but in the house, she is a calm and lovable
pooch and just wants to be around people. Multiple people
at the dog park have commented on how good she looks
and how her coat shines in the sun. Even better than
that, I've had a bunch of hunting buddies tell me that
they've hunted with a lot of dogs but "this one's
special". She pointed and retrieved a multitude
of game birds in her first season including roughed
grouse, hungarian partridge, pheasants, quail, and sharp
tail grouse. Congrats. on running such a great breeding
practice.

Hi
Patty,
I had some down time at work so I thought I would send
a long a quick update on Scout since its been a long
time. He is doing extremely well and has turned into
a huge ball of energy. He loves being out in the field
and going to the large dog park we have here in Milwaukee.
He’s been out in the field a few times as well
and his nose is incredible for 5 ½ months. He
is quartering really well and stays within 20 yards
so once he gets a little older, I am sure he will start
to hunt with some more range. He is still learning what
he needs to do when he finds a bird but, he will learn
to point and whoa. His retrieves are excellent. He has
had birds take off and shot down and he is right there
to pick it up and bring it back. We are working on bringing
it back to hand since it’s a fun game for him
to trot around just out of reach. Overall, he is an
incredible dog and we couldn’t be happier. My
wife and I have already begun to talk about when we
are getting the next one.
Thanks again Patty! We couldn’t be happier.

Hi
Patty,
Chauncy is doing great here at his new home, he is very
laid back [most of the time!] and everyone is very attached
to him already. I just wanted to let you know that I
brought Chauncy in for his shots and my vet was so impressed
with the way he looked and his personality that she
said she wanted to meet or at least talk to you as she
said it is very obvious that you know what you are doing!
She will either email you or call you as she wants your
input on his health. Once again thank you for everything
you have done, we greatly appreciate it all!!!!! Thanks
again!

Patty-
Diesel received a 106 out of 112 for his natural ability
on May 20th. He was perfect up until the tracking part.
He received a two on that and a 3 on cooperation. The
rest were all 4's. It seemed the judges really liked
him because they kept saying how it was too bad that
he was over the 16 month cut off. He received a prize
2, thanks to the tracking part, but it doesn't count
because of his age. We will be working a lot now so
he is ready for the UP test in the fall.

Hi
Patty,
I hope all is well over there. Holly has grown into
quite a wonderful dog. She currently weighs 52 pounds.
I free run her 3-4 times a week for about an hour at
a time. She has great proportions. She is just about
perfectly square, 25” at the withers and 25”
long. She has matured greatly as far as house manners
go, and is a terror in the field.
This past weekend Holly was run in a NAVHDA natural
ability test here in MN. She received many compliments
from people attending the test about how beautiful she
is. She also showed her stuff when she hit the field.
Holly
received a Prize 1 with 106 total points. She had four's
on everything but pointing and cooperation. In these
categories she received three's. She had a bit too much
energy in the field at one point and couldn't hit the
brakes fast enough on a bird. The bird flushed and thus
the reduced score. The
cooperation score was reduced for the same reason. An
outstanding performance nonetheless. She is going to
take the fall off from the training for her first full
hunting season. I cannot wait to see her tear up the
fields. This winter she is going to be force-fetched
to hone her natural retrieving. I plan to run her in
the NAVHDA Utility test within the next couple of years,
so that's why I'm going through the force-fetching .Thanks
again Patty for an outstanding dog. I see that you have
a repeat breeding coming up for Hank and Molly....Hmmmm...

Hi
Patty,
Just want to let you know how Yogi was doing. He is
growing big and strong with a great will to hunt. We
started our obedience training and he has done fantastic.
In fact he got outstanding comments and praise. Within
3 weeks we were able to accomplish all tasks involved
in the beginning obedience and by the end of the beginning
obedience (6 weeks) we completed both the beginning
obedience training and the advance training. The trainer
stated that with over 30 years training dogs he has
not seen a dog with such a prefect temperament and high
intelligence. He also stated that the breeders that
I got Yogi from knew what they were doing and have bred
a great pointing dog with the perfect temperament. This
is pretty high compliment, he has a long list of accomplishments
and references. He has over 30 years of experience which
mainly is in working dogs like rescue dogs, bomb dogs,
etc.. He has placed several times in Germany's dog shows
with his working dogs. The trainer and his dogs worked
the Oklahoma bombing. He is highly respected in this
area with his work with military dogs. We have been
discussing to see if he can do any kind training for
Yogi on hunting. I thought I would let you know how
well your dog has turned out and the recognition by
others of your fine breeding program. Talk to you soon.

Patty-
Just wanted to touch base with you on how Wrigley's
doing. We absolutely love him!! He'll be 5 months in
a week or so and is really doing quite well. Potty training,
obedience, everything was great. He's about 36 pounds
now and it's amazing how fast they grow. We don't exactly
have the woods and fields to hunt that you guys have
in Wisconsin, so he's taking a liking to trying to catch
fish in the ocean and bay that we take him to!! All
together though Katie and I wanted to thank you for
a very professional process and certainly a fantastic
job on your part. He's the best dog I've ever had and
he's only 5 months!! Because we take him with us pretty
much everywhere, a lot of people ask questions about
him and his breeding so don't be surprised if you hear
from people in the Sarasota/Tampa areas of Florida.
Thanks again.
Jason
Patty,
Hi .......I wanted to tell you that I took Cody to the
vet yesterday for his shots.....and everyone LOVED him.
They
thought he was beautiful.....and he is so friendly to
everyone...he is just a delight! He knows where he is
supposed to go to get outside and has mastered both
doors
along with the stairs. Whenever I take him out to do
his duty.....he always goes within a few minutes! The
vet said I was very lucky....and I told her that it
was because he had a very good breeder. I can really
tell the difference it has made that you have exposed
him to so many things in his
short life. He is afraid of nothing. He is very inquisitive
and has the best temperament. He knows how to open doors
if they are not latched..(I watched him get up on his
hind legs and push the bedroom door open with his weight!)
He still loves his little squeak toy the best and when
you praise
him....he prances around and is very proud of himself!
He is already understanding his name a bit and he is
getting the hang of the word no. (he loves to chew work
boots and shoes.....hee hee hee) He also walks on the
leash very well and listens to "come" about
half of the time ...which I think
is remarkable for his age! Well gotta go ....I have
a lot of work to do today still! I will keep in touch.
I can't thank you enough for all of the time and energy
you put into
your pups.....it really shows.........we absolutely
adore Cody!
Thanks and Take Care,
Liz
